Night Chopper is a freaky, peculiar and somewhat ghoulish musical game. Players chop branches off a tree to the rhythm of classical music, which might sound normal enough, except that gaining points means you'll have to focus on tapping your screen precisely when there ISN'T a branch on screen at exactly the right moment.
Each time you tap your screen you'll be playing a musical note. When you tap your screen you'll also be hacking off a branch if you tap just opposite it. If a branch grows too long because you haven't been able to cut it, then you'll lose that match and face starting the same song all over again from the top.
From your main menu, you choose which songs you want to play on Night Chopper. That's actually the game's real high point. The fact is you'll get to select any number of songs from a catalog of over 300 different piano pieces that you'll be interpreting as you tap your screen. Everyone from Adele, Rihanna, Linkin Park, and even songs from Undertale, Bioshock, One Piece and Final Fantasy VII.
Night Chopper is a highly entertaining game, which despite its unusual approach to gameplay, offers a veritable cornucopia of songs to chop along to, providing you manage to master its controllers, that is. As soon as you've got your bearings, you'll be playing some pretty fine tunes.
